FairTest: Standardised Testing Damages Education
A fact sheet provided by the National Center for Fair and Open Testing discuss the damage standardised testing does to education. Among other things, the following are mentioned specifically:
1. "Tests that measure as little and as poorly as multiple-choice tests cannot provide genuine accountability."
2. "Pressure to teach to the test distorts and narrows education." - "Schools narrow and change the curriculum to match the test."
3. Such tests "do not measure the ability to organize or communicate ideas."
See the source article below for the full fact sheet.
