Hyper-Realistic Body Painting

Alexa Meade combines art medias in a new and fascinating way. She combines acrylic painting and photography; two medias that hardly touch each other besides posting your painting onto Facebook when you don't know how to use a scanner.

But instead of taking a photo and making into a work of art, she paints her models and the background, and then she takes her picture.

  1. I love this for so many reasons. People seem to think that art has to belong to a certain category, Alexa is totally breaking that reality. She's taking something 3D and painting it literally versus painting a representation of that piece and making it 2D she is then photographing it. It's amazing to see the innovation she has a creativity. She's 23 years old, most would say that would make her inexperienced, young, and naive but she is disproving that stereotype. She is doing something that no one else has done. I like how in the video she addressed how when people see her work it is first the children who understand what is happening with her piece, children always seem to be so in tune when it comes to art, it is not until later in life when they begin to question their knowledge and understanding, even their skill. Creativity cannot be taught but it can certainly be destroyed, undermined, and forgotten.
